King of Citrus Kinnow (also Kinoo) is a variety of citrus fruit grown in Pakistan which resembles mandarin oranges. Other popular varieties grown in Punjab (Pakistan) include oranges, Red Blood, Mausami, Fruiter, Malta, limes and lemons. Approximately about 65 per cent of total citrus production is comprised of mandarin being popularly known as Kinnow. Quality wise, Kinnow is the most important variety. It is relished both domestically and internationally for its flavors.The season of availability starts from November and extends normally up to April with the peak occurring in mid January. In Pakistan the kinnow is grown under totally natural conditions to enhance the original flavour of the fruit and to preserve its fundamental goodness. Kinnow is easy to peal and because its loosely bound skins compared to other type of citrus fruit. Therefore, the Kinnow can be just peeled off and enjoyed anywhere, anytime. It is widely used for juices, squashes, Jams, jellies and Marmalades.
